SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B

JANUARY 17TH, 2021

SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Gospel: John 1: 35-42

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeUiBZSj07A&list=PL_ihUsy6_PLLaTEQcKsWN8UQoDp4duUsY

35 Again, the next day, John was standing with two of his disciples,

36 and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”

37 The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

38 Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), “where are you staying?”

39 He said to them, “Come, and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.

40 And Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who had heard of John, and followed him.

41 He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which is, being interpreted, Christ).

42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him, and said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is by interpretation, Peter).

Gospel: Luke 2: 16-21

16 And they came with haste; and they found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger.

17 And seeing, they understood of the word that had been spoken to them concerning this child.

18 And all that heard, wondered; and at those things that were told them by the shepherds.

19 But Mary kept all these words, pondering them in her heart.

20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God, for all the things they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

21 And after eight days were accomplished, that the child should be circumcised, his name was called JESUS, which was called by the angel, before he was conceived in the womb.

The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph

Lectionary: 17

Year B

Gospel  LK 2:22-40

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LB-Z1fVBKps&list=PL_ihUsy6_PLLaTEQcKsWN8UQoDp4duUsY Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

When the days were completed for their purification
according to the law of Moses,
They took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord,
just as it is written in the law of the Lord,
Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord,
and to offer the sacrifice of a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons,
in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord.

Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon.
This man was righteous and devout,
awaiting the consolation of Israel,
and the Holy Spirit was upon him.  It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death
before he had seen the Christ of the Lord.

He came in the Spirit into the temple;
and when the parents brought in the child Jesus
to perform the custom of the law in regard to him,
He took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word,
for my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you prepared in sight of all the peoples,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and glory for your people Israel.”

The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him;
and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, Tamoo bwo myamoo ti’i nyɛ’ɛ ntsù wwa nǝ ayɛ̀’ɛ̀sǝ̀ mǝzu’unǝ̌ anyù zu ma â swiŋǝ mbǝ̀’ǝ moo; Shimon ti’i nfwo wwa nkǝ nswiŋǝ a mbwo mma yì Màriyà ngǝ:
“Behold, this child is destined
for the fall and rise of many in Israel,
and to be a sign that will be contradicted
—and you yourself a sword will pierce—
so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived seven years with her husband after her marriage, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple, but worshiped night and day with fasting and prayer. And coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem. When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.

Christmas Mass During the Night The Nativity of the Lord

Lectionary: 14

Gospel  LK 2:1-14

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LB-Z1fVBKps&list=PL_ihUsy6_PLLaTEQcKsWN8UQoDp4duUsY Prayer to our Guardian Angel

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus
that the whole world should be enrolled. This was the first enrollment,
when Quirinius was governor of Syria. So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town.
And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth
to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem,
because he was of the house and family of David,
to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there, the time came for her to have her child,
and she gave birth to her firstborn son.
She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger,
because there was no room for them in the inn. Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields and keeping the night watch over their flock.
The angel of the Lord appeared to them
and the glory of the Lord shone around them,
and they were struck with great fear.
The angel said to them,
“Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy
that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David
a savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord.
And this will be a sign for you:
you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes
and lying in a manger.”
And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel,
praising God and saying:
“Glory to God in the highest
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Gospel  LK 2:1-14

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus
that the whole world should be enrolled. A fǝ’ǝ̀ wu wwa, nfò Siza Ògostus a niŋǝ̀ ntǝ̌  ngǝ a bǝ niŋǝ ǝlwenǝ ngòŋǝ ŋù ntsǝ̀mǝ fǝfǝ nshyǝ memǝ̀ aŋwà’àrǝ̀.
This was the first enrollment,
when Quirinius was governor of Syria. Li lyǝ mbǝ ncyàmbì mǝ̀niŋnǝ̀ mǝlwenǝ mǝmǝ̀ àŋwà’àrǝ̀ ma a lyǝ ndzwi a fǝ’ǝ̀ wu ma kwirinùs bǝ gobenà fǝfə ala’a Siriyà.
So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town. Ŋù ntsǝ̀mǝ̀ ti’i nfu nghǝ atuŋǝ bwo a nìŋǝ ǝlwenǝ̀ yi mǝmǝ̀ àŋwà’àrǝ̀.
And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth
to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem,
because he was of the house and family of David,
to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. Yòsebǝ̀̀ ti’i nfu fǝfǝ nǝkurǝ nǝ Galìli fǝfǝ Nazarə̀t, nghǝ fǝ Dzùdiyà nti’i nghǝ nkù’u ala’a nfò Dàvitǝ̀ ma bǝ̌  kǝ toŋǝ nǝ Bɛtɛ̀lɛm mbǝ’ǝma à bǝ ŋù àchyǝ ǹfò̀ Dàvitǝ̀ nkǝ mbǝ ŋu lanǝ̀ yɛ.
While they were there,
the time came for her to have her child,
and she gave birth to her firstborn son. Ma bwo dzwi wu la fǝ̀’ǝ̀ jwe moo ku’u, Mariya a jwe nchyambi moo yii ma a bǝ moo mǝ̀mbaŋnǝ̌,
She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger,
because there was no room for them in the inn. nti’i nkarǝ yi nǝ̀ ə̀sâ  ǝtsǝ̀’ǝ̀ a nòŋǝ mǝmǝ̀ àkhǝ̀ mǝ̀jyǝ mǝ nnà mbǝ’ǝma adì’ì bikakǝ ndyâ  wu ma bǝ twu nlye wu la dzwi.

Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields
and keeping the night watch over their flock. A fə’ə̀ wu wa bǝ̀tsì bǝ nna bâtsǝ dzwi ala ala’a wwa ma bwo kǝ dzwi nta’a nǝ̀twu’ù ntsǐ mǝ̀nà mya.
The angel of the Lord appeared to them
and the glory of the Lord shone around them,
and they were struck with great fear. Andzɛ̀rǝ̀ Nywè yii nu bwo, nkà’a nǝfònǝ̀ Nywe nwa’à nkarǝsǝ wwa, bwo ti’i nluu nǝ mǝ̀bônǝ̀.
The angel said to them,
“Do not be afraid;
for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy
that will be for all the people. Andzɛ̀rǝ̀ wi swiŋǝ nǝ̀ bwo ngǝ, “A bù kǝ nǝ boo mbǝ’ǝma mǝ̀ yii swiŋǝ nkenǝ̀ nshi’ìnǝ̀ ma ǝ yìi nǝ ayɛ̀’ɛ̀sǝ̀ a mbwo bǔ nə bə̀ bətsə̀mə,
For today in the city of David
a savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord. mbǝ’ǝma ǝtu’u mbyi senǝ̀ a mǝmǝ̀ ala’a nfò Dàvitǝ̀ bǝ jwe Nkwesǝ̀ wwu ma a bǝ Nfò Kristò.
And this will be a sign for you:
you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes
and lying in a manger.” Li bǝ àlènsǝ̀ zu ma a bə ghə̀rə bù zhì: bù bǝ zǝ moo mborǝ ma bǝ karǝ nǝ ə̀sǎ ǝtsǝ̀’ǝ̀ a noŋǝ mǝmǝ àkhǝ̀ mǝjyǝ mǝ nna.”
And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel,
praising God and saying: Tsuŋ fǝ̀bàŋtǝ̀ li ǹno bǝ andzɛ̀rǝ̀ bǔ nyii nkwɛtǝ andzɛ̀rǝ̀ wwa bwô  bwo ti’ì nghu’usǝ Nywe nswiŋǝ ngǝ:
“Glory to God in the highest
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” “Ǹghù’usǝ dzwi mbwo Nywè fǝ mǝmǝ àkò’ònǝ̌ nǝ mbonǝ̀ fǝ nshye mbwo bǝ̀ bu ma à kòŋǝ.”
