35 On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples: “Let us cross to the other side.”

36 Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was. And other boats were with him.

37 A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up.

38 Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”

39 He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was great calm.

40 Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?”

41 They were filled with great awe and said to one another, “Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?”

26 Jesus said to the crowds: “This is how it is with the kingdom of God; it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land A fǝ̀’ǝ̀ wu wwa, Yesu swiŋǝ a mbwo ǹno bǝ ngǝ, “Li mbǝ̀ zu ma àla’a nǝfonǝ̀ Nywe dzwi. Nǝ dzwi a ma ŋù ma à wɛ̀ɛ nsùŋǝ yi.

28 Of its own accord the land yields fruit, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. Ǹshye nǝ̀ àtyǝmbǝŋǝ zhi ghǝrǝ̀ mǝjyǝ kuwe, mǝ chyambì ntuŋǝ, nti’i mbǝŋǝ atugǝrǝ forǝ nti’i nko’o njwe mǝjyǝ̂.

29 And when the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the harvest has come.” Ngwàsaŋǝ tenǝ a kǝ mbi nlo nywe nǝ̀fu’u zhi nghǝ mbenǝ mbǝ’ǝma fǝ̀’ǝ nǝ̀fù’ù kù’u.

30 He said, “To what shall we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use for it? A swiŋǝ ngǝ, “Boŋǝ binǝ̀ nlo ngǝ àla’a nǝfonǝ Nywe bǝ li kǝ̀, kǝ̀ boŋǝ binǝ̀ lo li wine mǝbǎkò’ò nswiŋǝ wu?

31 It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. Nǝ jwi a ma mǝnyentǝ fǝ̀tâ ma fǝ kǝ̌ nchya fǝta fǝtsǝmǝ atyǝ̂ nshye wi.

32 But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade.” la bǝ wɛɛ fǝ kuwe mbǝ tǝko’o ǝtì nghǝrǝ ntâ dzwà ghà’àkǝ̌, mbǝ adi’i ma bǝ̀sǝŋǝ bǝ ndǝŋǝ yìi ndzwi wǝ.”

33 With many such parables he spoke the word to them as they were able to understand it. Yesù ti’i mboŋnǝ a mbwo bwo nǝ mǝbǎkò’ò mbǝ̀ zu ma boŋǝ bwo zu’u.

34 Without parables he did not speak to them, but to his own disciples he explained everything in private. A bikàkǝ mbwo bwo tǝ mǝbǎkò’ò boŋnǝ la a bû ndzǝ̀mǝ̀ a kǝ̌tǝ̀ mǝ̀nyù mǝ̀tsǝ̀mǝ a mbwo ngaŋǝ-kù dzwi.
