THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B

JANUARY 24TH,2021

Gospel: Mark 1: 14-20

14 Now after John was taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom of God,

15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Good News.”

16 Passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

17 Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you into fishers for men.

18 Immediately they left their nets, and followed him.

19 Going on a little further from there, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John, his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.

20 Immediately he called them, and they left their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.

SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B

JANUARY 17TH, 2021

SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Gospel: John 1: 35-42

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeUiBZSj07A&list=PL_ihUsy6_PLLaTEQcKsWN8UQoDp4duUsY

35 Again, the next day, John was standing with two of his disciples,

36 and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”

37 The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

38 Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), “where are you staying?”

39 He said to them, “Come, and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.

40 And Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who had heard of John, and followed him.

41 He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which is, being interpreted, Christ).

42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him, and said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is by interpretation, Peter).

Gospel: Luke 2: 16-21

16 And they came with haste; and they found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger.

17 And seeing, they understood of the word that had been spoken to them concerning this child.

18 And all that heard, wondered; and at those things that were told them by the shepherds.

19 But Mary kept all these words, pondering them in her heart.

20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God, for all the things they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

21 And after eight days were accomplished, that the child should be circumcised, his name was called JESUS, which was called by the angel, before he was conceived in the womb.

The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph

Lectionary: 17

Year B

Gospel  LK 2:22-40

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LB-Z1fVBKps&list=PL_ihUsy6_PLLaTEQcKsWN8UQoDp4duUsY Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

When the days were completed for their purification
according to the law of Moses,
They took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord,
just as it is written in the law of the Lord,
Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord,
and to offer the sacrifice of a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons,
in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord.

Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon.
This man was righteous and devout,
awaiting the consolation of Israel,
and the Holy Spirit was upon him.  It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death
before he had seen the Christ of the Lord.

He came in the Spirit into the temple;
and when the parents brought in the child Jesus
to perform the custom of the law in regard to him,
He took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word,
for my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you prepared in sight of all the peoples,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and glory for your people Israel.”

The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him;
and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, Tamoo bwo myamoo ti’i nyɛ’ɛ ntsù wwa nǝ ayɛ̀’ɛ̀sǝ̀ mǝzu’unǝ̌ anyù zu ma â swiŋǝ mbǝ̀’ǝ moo; Shimon ti’i nfwo wwa nkǝ nswiŋǝ a mbwo mma yì Màriyà ngǝ:
“Behold, this child is destined
for the fall and rise of many in Israel,
and to be a sign that will be contradicted
—and you yourself a sword will pierce—
so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived seven years with her husband after her marriage, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple, but worshiped night and day with fasting and prayer. And coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem. When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.

—and you yourself a sword will pierce—
so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”Zǝ, mǝ̀dzwinǝ̀ mǝ moo wi dǝ̀sǝ̀ ngǝ a bǝ lya ghǝ̀rǝ bǝ bâ nǝnǝ̀ fǝfǝ Izruyel wokǝ, bâ nǝnǝ̀ kǝ mbǝŋnǝ. There was also a prophetess, Anna,

She was advanced in years,
having lived seven years with her husband after her marriage,
and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. A tɛ̌ mbǝ nlwènǝ̀ mǝngyě ma a zo’o nduŋǝ yi bwo zhǝ dzwi nǝ ǝ̀luŋǝ samba, a nti’i mbǝ nkwi titi ma a lwenǝ kù’ù ǝ̀luŋǝ mǝghǝmǝ nǝ̀fà nǝ nchǝ̀ nǝ̀kwà.

And coming forward at that very time,
she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child
to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem. A ti’i kǝ̀ nyǐtǝ nshi fǝ̀’ǝ̀ wwa , nfya mǝyà a mbwo Nywè nkǝ mboŋnǝ mbǝ’ǝ̀ moo wi a mbwo bǝ̀ bǝ̀tsǝmǝ̀ bu ma bwo kǝ tsi mǝkwǝsǝnǝ̀ mǝ̀ Yɛrǝsalǝ̀m.

When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions
of the law of the Lord,
they returned to Galilee,
to their own town of Nazareth. Bwo mitǝ mǝ̀nyù mǝtsǝ̀mǝ mbǝ̀ zu ma ntǝ̀ǝ Nywe dǝ̌, nti’i mbu kwi nghǝ wwa nchya Galìli nti’i ghǝ nǝ zha àla’à ma a bǝ Nazaretə̀.
The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom;
and the favor of God was upon him. Moo ti’i nkwe ntentǝ, nlǔ nǝ mǝ̀tsǐ, Nywè dzwi nǝ̀ zhǝ.
