Christ The Source And Summit

Jesus Christ: The Source and Summit of Every Christian’s Life.

As Christians, our faith centers around the person of Jesus Christ. He is not merely a historical figure or a great teacher, but the very core and foundation upon which our lives are built. In this article, we will explore why Jesus is regarded as the source and summit, the beginning and the end of each Christian’s life.

1. Jesus Christ: The Source of Life
Jesus declared, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). He is the source of all life, both physical and spiritual, and through Him, we find abundant life. By his birth, life, death, and resurrection, Jesus reveals to us the nature of God’s love and offers us the gift of eternal life. As Christians, we tap into this divine life through our relationship with Him.

a. The Incarnation: In Jesus, God became flesh, taking on our human nature. By becoming one of us, He entered into our joys and sorrows, identifying intimately with our human experience.

b. The Word of God: Jesus is the living Word of God, the revelation of God’s truth to humanity. Through His teachings, we gain wisdom, knowledge, and guidance on how to live a life that is pleasing to God.

c. The Cross and Resurrection: At the cross, Jesus sacrificed Himself in a selfless act of love, paying the price for our sins. Through His resurrection, He conquered death, offering us redemption, forgiveness, and the hope of eternal life.

2. Jesus: The Summit of Life
Jesus is not only the source of life but also the pinnacle, the ultimate goal and purpose of our existence. As Christians, we are called to orient our lives towards Him and His teachings, striving to become more like Him.

a. Relationship with God: Jesus offers us the opportunity to have a personal relationship with God. He invites us to know the Father and experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, enabling us to live a life filled with love, joy, and peace.

b. Discipleship: Jesus calls His followers to take up their cross and follow Him (Mark 8:34). Through discipleship, we imitate His life of selflessness, humility, and service to others. In doing so, we become witnesses of His love in the world.

c. Eternal Destiny: Jesus promises those who believe in Him everlasting life in the presence of God. Our lives on Earth are merely a preparation for the eternal joy that awaits us in His kingdom.

3. Embracing Jesus as the Beginning and the End
To fully embrace Jesus as the source and summit of our lives, we need to cultivate a deep and personal relationship with Him. Here are a few practical suggestions to help us grow closer to Jesus:

a. Prayer: Regular prayer allows us to communicate with God and seek His guidance. By praying to Jesus, we open our hearts and minds to His presence and His will for our lives.

b. Study Scripture: Reading and meditating on the Word of God helps us understand who Jesus is and what He desires for us. It nourishes our faith and strengthens our relationship with Him.

c. Worship and Sacraments: Active participation in the sacraments, such as the Eucharist, Baptism, and Reconciliation, deepens our connection with Jesus and His Church. Through worship, we encounter Him sacramentally and receive His grace.
